He decided to eat only at the McDonald’s fast food chain for a month and recorded what was happening in his life and his body in a documentary. ‘Super Size Me’ premiered in 2004 and created a stir for the hamburger brand, recommending a balanced diet. But above all, that film made Morgan Spurlock known, who even earned an Oscar nomination for his denunciation of foods full of saturated fats.

Leaving behind two dozen more films, Spurlock has died at the age of 53, according to his brother and publicist, Craig: “The world has lost a true creative genius and a special man. “Morgan gave a lot through his art, his ideas and his generosity.” Under his direction was a film of the group’s One Direction tour in 2013, titled ‘This is Us’, and a special episode of The Simpsons, among others.

20 years ago, after bingeing on Big Mac and soda, Spurlock (United States, 1970) gained eleven kilograms and adjusted his cholesterol. However, the causes of his death do not originate in this kamikaze experiment. Not even in his sequel, filmed in 2019, in which he opened his own fast food chain and which was the last production he made.

According to the family, the death, which occurred on May 23 in New York, was due to “complications of cancer” that he suffered. Among the topics that motivated him to direct new documentaries are terrorism and gambling addiction. The Me Too movement silenced him, when he admitted having paid compensation to avoid a rape accusation. He was the father of one son and was married twice.
