El Paso to Chile was closed last Sunday due to a forecast that indicated heavy snowfall throughout the week. As of yesterday, Friday, more than 1,000 trucks were waiting to cross.
Eduardo Yayadelegate of Aprocam and the Argentine Federation of Freight Motor Transport Business Entitiesreported that the Pehuenche Passin Malargüewas also closed to avoid the transit of transporters and Chilean tourists who had traveled to shop during the weekend.

“According to the data accessed by Aprocam, the trucks that are currently waiting for the opening in Mendoza are about 1,000. Around 500 at the ACI Uspallata, 300 at the YPF in Luján, 100 at the EG3 also in Luján , and this Friday there were already 100 detainees in Destilería,” Yaya explained.

The organization reported that there is the possibility of reopening the pass on Thursday, May 25 at noon, if weather conditions allow it.

Drivers expressed their discontent, arguing that the crossing was closed prematurely and that some trucks could have crossed earlier in the week.
The forecast indicates that snowfall will continue in the next few hours in Alta Montaña, therefore, the pass will remain closed.

From the official account of the Cristo Redentor Pass they reported that clearing work is being carried out on the international route and that they will communicate the reopening when weather conditions allow safe passability.
