The municipal mayor of The Bank, Magdalena, Ronald Flórez Sierra, is once again at the center of controversy for being involved in scandals and disturbances of public order, apparently under the influence of alcohol.

In 2019, during his electoral campaign, he was denounced by mothers of minors whom he hired to participate in proselytizing activities and who They ended up in a care center, apparently due to high liquor consumption.

In that case, it was learned that Flórez organized a party with his campaign team in which there were excesses of all kinds. Among the participants were female adolescents between 14 and 17 years old.

Later, a political leader, husband of a councilor, Jorge Castaño Caamaño, He accused the president of arriving home drunk and insulting him and threatening him.

Fight with blows and shots

The last fact that directly involves the mayor of El Banco has to do with ua fight in which he would have participated and that got out of control.

According to witnesses, the disturbance of public order originated in a party that ended in beatings and even shots.

Everything would have been unleashed as a result of some claims that he made Genaro Salas, current administrator of the public market of the municipality, to an official who accompanied the president.

From offenses they moved on to beatings and, later, those in conflict took out traumatic weapons and attacked with shots in the middle of the street.

The incident happened in front of the facilities of the Public Services Company of this town and ended a few streets away, near the Antiguo Betel school.

Several residents and witnesses recorded the shouts of insults and the exchange of shots that lasted for several minutes. until the police arrived and controlled the situation.

Mayor denies involvement in fight

Mayor Ronald Flórez Sierra spoke out in a statement to deny his participation in this brawl.

Although there are several videos in which he is identified, Flórez said that at that time he was in a meeting with teachers from the municipality.

According to the president, He does not own firearms and maintained that he will not allow his good name, nor that of his family, to be tarnished by unfounded allegations.

Finally, he sent a message to his political opponents, indicating that the accusations will not stop the progress of his administration.
