Quinteros: “When ATE transgressed the rules, we had to restore order”

The Minister of Security of Córdoba, Juan Pablo Quinteros, spoke regarding the incidents that occurred on Av. La Voz del Interior, near the airport, between protesters from the Association of State Workers (ATE) and the Police and Gendarmerie, which they launched tear gas.

The workers’ union held a mobilization in the northern area of the city of Córdoba to express themselves against the arrival of President Javier Milei, scheduled for after noon on Saturday.

“There was a march that the State Workers Association had been warning about for several days, to be held at the gate of the Taravella Airport. ATE held its demonstration, when they transgressed the rules, what everyone saw happened to restore order,” said Quinteros. in dialogue with Chain 3.

The official assured that, after restoring order, the protesters were already leaving the place.

Asked about the agreement with the Police that the general secretary of the union, Federico Giuliani, had mentioned, Quinteros said that “the agreements do not exist” and that the only thing that existed was a prior dialogue to detail what was allowed to be done and what was not.

“When certain issues are transgressed, We act as when a crime is committed. The prosecutor (Ernesto) De Aragón has already intervened to carry out the procedures. We were with the police forces and Gendarmerie, we let them demonstrate until they blocked the streets and now they are withdrawing,” the Minister assured Chain 3. “The only attitude for this is to dialogue, there is no other way,” he said.

According to the official, there were a couple of minor injuries, although he did not have clear reports to detail the amount. There were no arrests.

On the other hand, he said that different operational issues are being analyzed for the landing of Milei in the provincial capital, although he clarified that the protocols are the responsibility of the presidential delegation. “They are not our decisions”

When asked by people who want to go to the Milei event in Plaza San Martín, Quinteros said that access is free and that the controls are going to be routine and normal. “You can’t enter with banners. Theoretically, this is going to be filled with supporters of the president. “The protests have already been held and the demonstration in Colón and General Paz is outside the ejido of the operation.”

“The President of the Nation is coming and we must take extreme precautionary measures. It is a complex security operation because Milei, Villarruel and all their ministers are coming,” he concluded.
