The mayor of Cali, Alejandro Eder, evaluated the situation facing the city in the first rainy season of the year and several measures were taken, such as prioritizing not only the communes that were most affected during the recent emergencies due to the torrential rains, but all the sectors of the city that present conditions of vulnerability to possible precipitation events, especially the Jarillón area of the Cauca River, the hillside and the rural sector of Cali.

It was decided to permanently install the Unified Command Post, and at the same time coordinate the corrective works that will recover the infrastructure that was destroyed during the first rainy season.

Additionally, the contingency plan was approved for the health emergency and in response to the dengue epidemic, which is affecting the people of Cali and which has worsened due to the rainy season.

Together with the Secretariat of Security and District Justice, judicial processes will be strengthened against promoters of the illegal sale of properties in areas of informal settlements, in high-risk sectors and in protected areas. This in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office and the Cali Metropolitan Police.

The Mayor’s Office of Cali calls on citizens to take care of the wastewater channels, not to throw garbage in the sewage channels or in the city’s water sources, understanding the high impact that these actions have on the drainage systems. of rainwater.

This plan seeks to combine intersectoral efforts for the containment, control and mitigation of the health effects of the epidemic in the District.

Once the previous points have been evaluated, the District Risk Management Council will meet again to proceed with decision-making, to continue articulating the actions that will allow continuing with the execution of the response plan for the first rainy season and the imminent arrival of the La Niña phenomenon.
