Santa Cruz (Bolivia), May 25 (Sputnik). – The Bolivian Government rejected this Sunday that the United States decided to keep Cuba on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, despite removing it from another list of countries that “do not fully cooperate with anti-terrorist efforts.”

“The Plurinational State of Bolivia expresses its resounding rejection of the list prepared unilaterally by the United States that, selectively, qualifies Cuba as a State that sponsors terrorism,” reads the official statement.

The United States confirmed on May 16 that it maintains Cuba on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, despite admitting that it cooperates with Havana in some activities to combat terrorism.

“The inclusion of Cuba on this list violates the most basic principles of the United Nations charter, threatens in a multidimensional way and causes serious violations of the human rights of the Cuban population,” questioned the Bolivian executive.

The US Government imposed a trade embargo against Cuba on October 19, 1960, which would end up becoming the longest economic blockade in human history.

«In this line, it is also a serious act of interference that has political objectives and destabilization of the internal order in Cuba. The Plurinational State of Bolivia reiterates its solidarity with the people of Cuba,” the body expressed.

Bolivia and Cuba maintain an intense bilateral dialogue and long-standing cooperation program in various areas, and together with other countries they form the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty.(Sputnik)
