The alternative will operate starting Monday, June 3, in classroom 1 of the Avellaneda Hospital, in order to continue training patients about the disease and the changes in habits necessary to improve their quality of life.

In this regard, the doctor Roberto Aiziczona diabetes doctor at the Avellaneda Hospital, indicated: “Together with the doctor Fatima Rears We are about to start the Diabetes School 2024 and we are very happy, excited, because it is a new experience for us as well. We want to invite all patients with diabetes, adults, to come to the Avellaneda Hospital on Mondays, so that we can learn together about the pathology.”

“On Monday, June 3, we started and every 14 days we will meet at 10 in the morning in classroom 1 of the effector. Everyone is invited, both patients and family and friends, to learn everything about diabetes. It is intended for patients over 18 years of age and we also have a classroom for children with diabetes,” he said.

The objective of the alternative, he added, is to learn about diabetes, taking into account that sometimes doctors are very busy in the office, very attentive to tests or medication and we cannot answer patients’ questions. Doubts are shared and here is a method to learn, because educating is not only about giving information but about making changes in habits and in the way of seeing life. Diabetes is a difficult disease, but it can be controlled very well.

While, Claudia Diaz, who belongs to the School of Patients commented: “I have been there almost from the beginning, years ago. I come, let’s say, as a student, patient and a little also as a friend. Although there are doctors to help us, the one who knows is the patient, who has to learn to cope with the burden, it is emotional, it is a way of life, a change that generates fear.”

“There are many things to see, it is what I am learning, I continue to know and the public is renewed day by day. We come to take the appointment, we talk to the patient who is generally afraid so we have to guide them, it’s a whole. We all help each other, whether they are young or old, there is no status,” she explained.

Of course, he stressed, the difference will be, for example, type 1 diabetes, which is that of young people, where the pancreas simply stops working and becomes insulin-free. Then we have type 2 diabetes, which is the most common, which is more common in adults, it also goes with the genetic load and requires oral medication, although it reaches a point where insulin is passed, it is still type 2. And the third, which In recent times it has been highly valued, it is gestational, when the pregnant woman has diabetes, which sometimes goes away and in some cases remains after childbirth.

“It is an open book to help us understand, know what is wrong and what is not and understanding that it is our responsibility. We really ended up being friends with the professionals who educate us, so we invite them to join,” she concluded.
