The seven accused of drug trafficking or complicity with them who sat in the Provincial Court this Monday, after having been identified and arrested in 2018 during the so-called ‘operations Tritium and Kelos’, have accepted sentences of between four and a half years. and two years in prison, which represents a notable reduction in the sentences that the Prosecutor’s Office initially requested. Public prosecution and defense have accepted the existence of two mitigating circumstances: the first, applied to everyone, due to delays in the process; the second, for four of them, due to drug addiction.

AV has accepted a sentence of four and a half years in prison (8 were initially requested), RO and IA have agreed to a sentence of three and a half years (eight were also requested), RA has been sentenced to two years (requested double), BHF has agreed to 3 years of confinement (the prosecutor, initially, asked for 7 years) and AG and IM have accepted two years (they were asked for double). In total, 20 and a half years in prison.

In addition, together they will have to answer for fines that amount to 305,400 euros and ranging from 100,000 euros for the alleged ringleader to 11,000 through 82,500. In the public accusation document, the amount requested was close to 600,000 euros. In the same way, the seizure of drugs and several vehicles continues.

This sentence puts an end to the so-called ‘Operations Tritium and Kelos’, which in 2018 were presented by the Security Forces as a blow against “the largest drug hypermarket in Rioja.” In that operation, more than 13 kilos of ‘speed’, 1.3 kilos of cocaine, 3.2 kilos of marijuana, 327 grams of ketamine, 178 grams of crystal or 195 ecstasy pills, among other supplies, were seized. The operation had its epicenter in Manjarrés, where a chamizo had become a hub of trafficking for traffickers from La Rioja and Navarra, although searches were also carried out in Tricio and the Biscayan town of Músquiz, since part of the drugs came from the country. Basque.

Now, the lawyers of those already convicted are going to request the benefits of parole so that they do not go to prison.
