May 26. Neiva witnessed the most anticipated sporting event of the year: Opitas Corren by Comfamiliar Huila. With the participation of nearly 2,000 sports enthusiasts, the city vibrated with energy and commitment in a route that covered distances of 10k, 5k and 3k.

Early on, participants gathered at the meeting point at Club Los Lagos. The day began with a stretching and warm-up session guided by the instructors from the Comfamiliar Huila gyms. In addition, the Band of the Combat Support and Service Battalion activated the attendees with the interpretation of the San Juan Huilense, creating a festive atmosphere full of regional pride.

Among the highlights of the event was the participation of a female Army platoon, the performance of the rock band Arcadia and the fireworks that surprised attendees in the exit lane, adding excitement and complementing an unforgettable experience.

The runners competed in different categories, highlighting the 10k, 5k, and 3k routes, as well as a special category for minors. The first three places on each route were awarded, recognizing their effort and dedication. In addition, medals and various gifts were presented to the participants.

The event also served as a platform to highlight female empowerment in sports, with a notable participation of women who demonstrated their strength and determination, and was also joined by an Army platoon made up entirely of women. Likewise, numerous men joined, supporting and contributing to the success of the day.

Sunny Rocío Ruiz, winner of the 10k Open category, said “participating in Comfamiliar’s Opitas Corren has been an incredible experience. The organization was excellent and the atmosphere motivating. I thank Comfamiliar for organizing this race, many of us were looking forward to this event returning because it also represents women’s empowerment. Thank you for everything, the truth is that I am very happy.”

Luz Ayda Lozano, participant in the 10k Master category, said “I am delighted. I invite those who could not attend on this occasion to attend the next version, they are spaces that we must take advantage of and where we women can demonstrate that resilience is running, to be able to get ahead of many adversities that our department has suffered. Thank you to Comfamiliar and continue to support these types of sporting events.”

Comfamiliar Huila’s Opitas Corren not only consolidated its position as a high-impact sporting event, but also promoted health, valuable family time, and highlighted feminine power.

“The day that the attendees experienced reflects the current dynamics of the Fund and the type of experiences that, headed by our Administrative Director, we want to continue providing to our members and the general public of the department,” said Camilo Flórez, head of Recreational Services.
