The Secretary of Tourism, Environment and Sports of the Nation, Daniel Sciolitogether with the Undersecretary of Tourism, Yanina Martinez; the president of the Tourism Entity of the City of Buenos Aires, Valentin Diaz Guilligan; the president of AFIDA, Fernando Gorbaran; the president of the Argentine Chamber of Tourism, Gustavo Haniand the general director of La Rural, Claudio Dowdallparticipated in the opening ceremony of the 53rd AFIDA Congress that is taking place in La Rural de Palermo.

Scioli stood out “Argentina is facing a profound process of transformation and change, which the President of our country defined tourism as a strategic activity in the economic recovery of the country and the implementation of the greatest open skies revolution that is remembered in our country and in the region”.

In that sense he assured: “Today, greater domestic and international air connectivity is being facilitated, which is having a very positive impact on the incoming segment and especially to facilitate this wonderful industry of fairs and conventions, which not only helps to break seasonality, but also mobilizes different areas of our local economy”he finished.

While Yanina Martinez: “The Congress allows us to show the MICE segment and the work that has been done by the Undersecretariat of Tourism with the entire tourism sector”.“Meeting tourism is one of the most important activities in our country, from the Undersecretariat we have been carrying out a daily task with all the bureaus in Argentina, that is why we seek to federalize the segment”.

“Our programs linked to this activity will be launched at the next CFT Assembly, where we will work so that this industry becomes professional and integrated with artificial intelligence”.

The AFIDA Congress is held on May 27 and 28 in the city of Buenos Aires, on this occasion 130 participants from 13 partner countries attend: Italy, Spain, Brazil, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, Ecuador , Panama and Argentina. This space is essential to promote direct contact between representatives of a key sector of tourism that is constantly innovating. Meeting tourism contributes strongly to the development of the activity and makes a substantial contribution to regional and national economies.

AFIDA celebrates 55 years of existence, represents 6 million dollars in turnover in Latin America that impacts the GDP of all the countries that attend the Congress today. 50 million people have been mobilized in the fair industry and have visited exhibitions in our region. During two days, specialists will speak on topics such as perspectives and challenges in the sector: analysis of the Fairs and Exhibitions Industry; minimizing footprint, maximizing impact; minimalist design, carbon neutral assembly and production; brand activations and sponsorships for fairs; economic challenges and global trade; digital marketing in the exhibition industry; resilience and renewal – successful experiences in the industry.
