Attention! Taxi drivers’ strike announced for this Wednesday, May 29

Taxi drivers’ unions nationwide called for a strike in different cities for this Wednesday, May 29, to protest, according to them, the lack of actions by the national government to control informal transportation platforms.

Although initially drivers from Bogotá, Tunja and other municipalities of Cundinamarca were the ones who promoted the demonstration, taxi driver unions from other cities such as Medellín and Itagüí have decided to join this initiative.

According to these unions, they will carry out the strike because “the Ministry of Transportation and Superintendence did not support the initiative to revoke the registration licenses of vehicles that do not have permits and are contracted through technological applications.”

Although there is still no tour by the taxi drivers who will protest in Medellín, they normally concentrate at points such as the Juanes Park, at the height of Carrera 65, the North Highway -entrance to Zamora-, the North Terminal, the Western route towards the tunnel, Las Palmas Avenue, the Caldas variant and the Éxito de Niquía roundabout.

It is recommended to take alternate routes, be aware of the networks of the Mobility secretaryuse the Metro or telework, in order to minimize the impact of travel.
