The Colombian U-20 women’s team was defeated by Japan in the second match of the Sud Ladies Cup, a friendly tournament that functions as preparation for the World Cup of the category.

The Colombians were surprised by the Japanese forwards, who scored the first goal of the match. Minutes later, Natalia Hernández scored the goal to equalize the score.

However, the Asian team scored the last goal of the match to tip the final score 2-1, in favor of Japan.

So far in the tournament, those led by Carlos Paniagua won against Mexico, in the penalty shootout, and managed to add two points in the group stage.

These units, mathematically, prevent them from competing in the final of the tournament. First place in Group A will be defined between Japan and Mexico on Sunday.

The Asians have three points, while the North Americans only one. Therefore, the finalist team will be the winner of the weekend’s duel.

Colombia, for its part, will have to wait for results to compete for third or fifth place in the tournament against one of the teams in Group B: France, Morocco or Panama.

In any case, the match will take place on June 4 to close our team’s participation in the championship.
