The trucks are carrying out route reconnaissance.

Starting this week, the new Coyhaique Household Waste Collection System will be operational, an initiative that seeks to make the city cleaner and increase the percentage of recycling in the commune.

The project was financed by the Regional Government of Aysén and carried out by the Municipality of Coyhaique, with a budget of 2 billion pesos.

The old collection system had seven garbage collection trucks. This new plan will have 13 trucks and seeks to incorporate more hoppers in different sectors, 11 in the urban sector and three in the peri-urban sector.

The technical inspector of the municipality’s Collection Service, Franco Muñoz Medina, informed the community that, during this week, the new collection trucks are carrying out route reconnaissance.

“These trucks will not be performing the collection service, since they will be without a worker. It is important to carry out this prior preparation to start with the new municipal collection service for household solid waste in the commune,” the inspector warned.

The trucks will begin collecting waste in the commune, starting this Saturday, June 1.
