without major modifications, except for Law and Superior Council

According to the data provided by the UNC itself, in these elections More than 80 thousand people voted among all the cloisters. In the Student Center elections, 65 thousand voters were registered.

The election acted as a prelude to what will happen in 2025, when deans and vice-deans of the 15 faculties must be renewed. Meanwhile, the highest authorities, rector and vice-rector, their mandate expires in 2026.

Although in the majority of the faculties there were not many modifications – for example, 14 of the 15 student centers were ratified – these elections were marked by some events that greatly modified the political map of the UNC.

First of all, the emergence of a new force that achieved a seat in the Superior Council of the UNC: the front called “Commitment for the UNC” made up of “Sean Eternos”, an organization with access to national and provincial Justicialism, with a presence in 9 faculties, and the CEU, with a presence in three faculties, and which year after year disputes stick by stick with Socialism (ABM) the leadership of the Student Center of the Faculty of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences.

“Sean Eternos” is represented on the majority of the Boards of Directors of these faculties and leads the Student Center of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The remaining seats of the Superior Council were as follows: 6 seats for Reforma, in front of Franja Morada, who lost one seat compared to the previous year, in the hands of the alliance formed by Sean Eternos and CEU. Finally, three seats for the front of the alliance that formed part of the provincial Peronism with the local Kirchnerism, “La Fuerza”, a space that was on everyone’s lips at the UNC weeks before, due to the curious decision to be part of said front to the university group of Javier Milei, the liberal group ALA, for many the space that was dealt a heavy defeat, based on the results faculty by faculty.

In Law the “La Fuerza” Center lost

The second distinctive event of these elections was what happened at the Faculty of Law, where UEU, the organization that makes up “La Fuerza” suffered a harsh defeat, losing the Student Center of that faculty by a difference of around 10 percent at the hands of from Franja Morada, who in this way recovered driving.

In this faculty, something unexpected also happened: a scheme of thirds was proposed for the Board of Directors, consisting of two seats for Franja Morada, two seats for Together for Right and two seats for UEU, which was left in this way, leaving the stage open. for anyone in what is to come, especially taking into account that next year decanal authorities will be renewed by direct vote. At the same time, in the graduate faculty, with a heterogeneous alliance, with broad support from local Peronism, they won the two seats that were disputed.

Surprises in Communication and Social

And returning to the University City, at the Faculty of Communication Sciences (FCC), there were many surprised faces after the result of the election for the Board of Directors, where La Marea, a university space of the MST, was placed in second place, relegating Franja Morada to third place and fourth to the front between La Mella and Sur, both within “La Fuerza”. The student body was represented on the Council by students from 4 different forces, Arcilla-La Hinge, with three; Caleuche + South with one; La Marea-MST with one and Franja Morada with one.

A climate of astonishment was also experienced in the Faculty of Social Sciences, where an even election was previously foreseen, but the polls showed that Sociales para la Victoria doubled the second force and relegated La Bisagra to third place. The panorama was different in graduates where a day of much dispute was witnessed, leaving the seats for the Board of Directors, one for GraCSo and another for Graduates from the Public University, both organizations with a marked Peronist affiliation and with links to the dean leadership of the said faculty.

Finally, it is worth highlighting the great election of Dos Puntos in the Faculty of Arts, where it was only 19 votes away from recovering the Student Center, which today is led by Sur, an organization that has just lost the Psychology Center last year, a gap which increased significantly this year in the field of mental health knowledge.

What was chosen at UNC?

On May 15 and 16, the elections of the authorities and representatives for the Superior Council and for the governing councils of the 15 faculties that make up the National University of Córdoba were held.

The student spaces in general maintained their leadership, with the novelty that Franja Morada regained leadership in Law and Sean Eternos achieved a seat on the Superior Council.

As for the student groups that identify with Cordoban Kirchnerism, they continue to lead the FAMAF, Communication and Philosophy and Humanities center; local Peronism does the same with the Dentistry center; Libres del Sur continues to lead the Faculty of Arts and Sean Eternos retained the Faculty of Social Sciences.
