During the hot afternoon of Saturday, June 1, pedestrians on the southern highway experienced moments of panic caused by a sudden exchange of gunfire. The sounds of bullets came from a citizen who was chasing two individuals who, minutes before, had stolen his belongings.

It all started in the Villa del Río neighborhood, town of Bosa, when the robbery victim left the truck in which he was traveling parked on the street. Later, he went to a commercial establishment to make some purchases. While she was moving forward, she was able to notice the exact moment in which two individuals were stealing a purse and other belongings from her truck.

When they were surprised, the two alleged thieves fled in a black vehicle and took the southern highway, heading south – north. However, given the high traffic flow in the corridor over the festive bridge, the individuals were not able to gain much distance from the victim, who proceeded to follow them in her vehicle.

Taking advantage of the traffic jam on the highway, the victim of the robbery got out of his vehicle, pulled out a firearm, and proceeded to shoot at the two subjects who were escaping in the black vehicle. These two people, however, were not left behind, and decided to respond to the shots.

The crossfire lasted approximately five minutes, unleashing panic and chaos among the people passing through said corridor, near the Madelena neighborhood. Moments later, a Police patrol arrived at the scene and found that the two alleged thieves had been injured.

The health status of these two people was immediately verified and they were referred to a healthcare center. During the inspection of the black vehicle, police officers recovered a purse and other valuable belongings that had been stolen from the owner of the truck. A firearm was also found, which was apparently used by the two criminals to commit the robberies.

The authorities reported that once they recover from their injuries, both people will be arrested for the crimes of theft and possession and manufacture of firearms. They will be left before a judge of guarantees, before whom they will have to respond for the illegal actions mentioned above.
