There will be motorcycle taxis or motorcycle carts, as well as human-powered vehicles, in the state’s tourist transportation.

The Communications and Transportation and Tourism Promotion commissions of the State Congress analyze the initiative to reform the Transportation Law for this purpose.

Representative Bernarda Reyes Hernández stated that tourism activity in the state of San Luis Potosí has experienced notable growth in recent years, consolidating itself as one of the most attractive destinations both nationally and internationally. In this context, the continuous improvement of infrastructure and services becomes essential to guarantee a satisfactory experience for visitors and promote an increase in tourist influx.

The initiative proposes the addition of a new section to article 12 of the Transportation Law of the State of San Luis Potosí, which defines the motorcycle taxi or motorcycle service as an auxiliary means of tourist transportation for a maximum of three passengers, operating exclusively in areas delimited for tourism.

Likewise, it is proposed to define human-powered vehicles (bicycles and tricycles) as means driven by human muscular force, designed to transport two people and their cargo.

It is also established to regulate the use of motorcycle taxis or motorcycle carts, as well as human-powered vehicles, in tourist transportation, limiting it to tourist circuits or routes of no more than 5 km around the municipal seat.

Reyes Hernández explained that the inclusion of these new provisions in the Transportation Law of the State of San Luis Potosí represents a significant step towards the improvement and diversification of tourist transportation in the region.
