Bogotá, June 5, 2024. The Colombian National Team will debut against its Australian counterpart at the Nemesio Camacho El Campín stadium in Bogotá, in a Group A game that will mark the opening of the 2024 FIFA Women’s U-20 Soccer World Cup. Event that will be held from the 31st from August to September 22 in our country.

This was established after the draw for the championship groups, held at the Hotel Hall 74 in Bogotá, which was attended by authorities from FIFA, Conmebol, government authorities and representatives of the participating countries, and which was led by Jaime Yarza, FIFA events director, helped by players Lindsay Tarpley from the United States, and Natalia Gaitán from Bogotá, eternal captain of the Colombian National Team.

“We are pleased with the positive result of FIFA’s recent visit to our stadiums, and for being the main venue for the Women’s U-20 World Cup. It is an honor to receive all these delegations, and our Colombian National Team, whose home we will be. This event confirms Bogotá as the epicenter of major sporting events. Welcome to this great football festival,” said the director of the IDRD, Daniel García Cañón.

The draw

The FIFA U-20 World Cup Colombia 2024 will have 52 matches in total. Bogotá will host 24 games (10 in El Campín and 14 in Techo); Of them, 18 are from the group stage (6 in El Campín and 12 in Techo), 4 in the round of 16 (2 in El Campín and 2 in Techo), and the matches for third place and the final, both in the colossus of 57th.

Cali will host 18 matches (12 in the first round, 2 in the round of 16, 2 in the quarterfinals and 2 in the semifinals), and Medellín will have 10 matches (6 in the group stage, 2 in the round of 16 and 2 in the quarterfinals ). This confirms that Bogotá will be the central axis of the Cup.

Once the draw for the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup was made, the groups were formed as follows:

-Group A: Colombia, Australia, Cameroon and Mexico.

-Group B: France, Canada, Brazil and Fiji.

-Group C: Spain, United States, Paraguay and Morocco.

-Group D: Germany, Venezuela, Nigeria and Republic of Korea (South).

-Group E: Japan, New Zealand, Ghana and Austria.

-Group F: Korea DPR (North), Argentina, Costa Rica and the Netherlands.

Likewise, it was established that Bogotá will be the main venue for Group A, based in El Campín, and for groups D and E, which will play at the Techo stadium. In addition, Bogotá will receive, alternately, a game from Group B (Canada vs. Brazil) in El Campín, one from C (United States vs. Paraguay) in Techo, and one from F (Germany vs. Costa Rica) also in Ceiling.
