Dismissed Textilcom workers carry out camping

Around 60 families are in a critical situation after three months without receiving their salaries, causing them to take drastic measures such as camping out to ensure what they are entitled to as stipulated in their labor contracts.

In statements with Radio La Red, one of the employees explained the difficult situation they are going through: “It has been three months since we received our salaries and the company has not provided any response as to when or how much they will pay us. While in Buenos Aires the factory continues operating and paying salaries, in La Rioja we have not received a single cent.”

In addition, he denounced the lack of communication on the part of the company: “The dismissal telegrams have begun to arrive, but some colleagues have not yet received them. 4 days have passed since the notification, but if we do not receive our salaries, how can we “Will we be able to access the corresponding compensation? Is there no legal presence of the company in our province?”

The situation has stagnated in the negotiations with the Ministry of Labor due to the lack of responses from the company. The owner of Textilcom has alleged financial problems, but has not provided concrete solutions for the workers of La Rioja and Catamarca who are affected by this labor crisis.

The workers are waiting for a meeting with their union representatives to define the next steps to follow, while they continue in the camp to protect the factory’s assets. Uncertainty and economic instability have hit the textile sector hard, with a 70% drop in sales, numerous suspensions and layoffs that have affected hundreds of workers in the region.
