In a video published this Monday by Cuban Television, commentator Humberto López described as “media terrorists” those who shared alleged “fake news” about the death of several young people during a fight at the Finca de los Monos, a recreational and technological center. in the Cerro municipality, in Havana.

“The vast majority from abroad, seek to deceive and plunge into pain these people for whom they claim to care,” emphasized the regime spokesperson, however, their accusations were not well received by many social media users, especially when It is considered that the rumors began to circulate while the official press remained silent about what happened.

The events were recorded on Saturday afternoon, during an activity for the beginning of summer. Although days before an organizer had explained on an official television program that the event was coordinated with the municipal government of Cerro, López stated in the video that local authorities were not aware of it and therefore it was “not authorized.” He added that for that reason, there was no police presence to take care of the young people and adolescents who attended.

The trigger for the episode of violence is still being investigated, but according to the regime’s statement, the number of attendees exceeded the organizers’ expectations. Videos published on social networks show young people, even minors, armed with sticks and machetes, creating a scene of chaos and violence.

The attendees themselves made reference to the delay of the police authorities, which contrasts with the official version, in which they maintained that both the government and the police “intervened consistently to reestablish order.”

Regime authorities insist that there were only injuries, a figure that was initially reported as two and later increased to six, including a minor who received medical attention in a hospital.

Meanwhile, on social networks, criticism of the delay in the presentation of the official version and concern about the presence of young people, even adolescents, in the midst of chaos and without the presence of police patrols, continue to increase.
