“The Whale season is very important for Puerto Pirámides because it is a job generator for the entire community,” the Secretary of Tourism of Peninsula Valdés, Marcela Fernández, told EL CHUBUT.
On Friday, June 14, there will be the official launch of the 2024 Whale Season and boat watching, which will take place from 9 a.m. in the Puerto Pirámides Beach sector. Governor Ignacio Torres and provincial tourism authorities, national authorities such as the Secretary of Tourism, the city mayor and representatives of local institutions will be present.
“The start is more gradual and there is greater movement starting with the winter holidays, both in Chubut and the rest of the country,” said Fernández. In 2023 about 130 thousand people sailed, so they expect to have a similar number understanding the national economic context, however, the official acknowledged that they are expectant and most of the time “the seasons end up surprising us.”
Fernández highlighted the work with the Pirámides Chamber of Tourist Services for the creation of offers and promotions for both provincial and Argentine residents, and emphasized: “The guideline is to work with private parties to promote the offer and improve it.” The presence as replicators of the travel agents and specialized press present who will embark, within the framework of the 49th Faevyt Congress, and the Federal Tourism Council, which will be held in Puerto Madryn starting tomorrow, will be important.
