From the early hours of the morning, the inhabitants of Cajibío, in the department of Cauca, woke up startled by the roar of gunshots.
Members of the FARC dissidents launched harassment in the urban area of the municipality, a situation that was recorded by security cameras and the residents themselves.
The response of the Public Force was quick and forceful, with air support from helicopters. According to the Government of Cauca, the reinforcement of units allowed the attack to be contained quickly.
“Thanks to the fact that our Public Force has been reinforced in number of units and we had rapid air support, it was possible to contain the actions of these criminal groups that attack our population without measure,” reported Octavio Guzmán, governor of Cauca.

The official balance indicates that there were no fatalities or injuries, although material damage was recorded in some civilian homes.
“All the support to our Colombian National Police. Cauca continues in the middle of an absurd war, which no one is winning, it only leaves us desolation and unrest. Even when?”Governor Guzmán added in a statement.
In parallel, in Valle del Cauca, specifically in the municipality of Jamundí, similar harassment was reported by the FARC Central General Staff against the police station in the Poterito sector during the morning of June 12.
The departments of Cauca, Valle and Nariño continue to be the scene of armed confrontations between the Emc dissidents and the Public Force.
Since last March 17, after the breakdown of the bilateral ceasefire, President Gustavo Petro has ordered a “total offensive” against these illegal groups that operate in the southwest of the country.

The situation in these regions reflects a worrying reality of violence and conflict, which despite the efforts of the Public Force, continues to seriously affect the civilian population.
