The most important sports festival for students in the country, the 2024 Intercollegiate Games, are already underway. With the socialization by the Mayor’s Office and the Municipal Institute for Sports and Recreation, Imdri, the city’s schools already have all the information to begin registration, which will go until August 9.

There will be 36 sports modalities in which the future promises of sports in the Musical Capital will display their talent, through the fundamental letter issued by the Ministry of Sports, the entity in charge of organizing the Intercollegiate Games.

“The objective of us as a National High School is to participate as we have been doing in previous versions of the event. This is where the classes of children begin in pre-kindergarten and then to pre-juvenile and youth, to achieve their achievements,” said Óscar Montealegre, swimming teacher at the Liceo Nacional.

The students who will be promoted through the competitions will be those born between 2007 and 2012. That is, pre-youth and youth categories will be in competition to represent Imdri and Ibagué in the Intercollegiate Games, departmental phase.

“The preparation for the games has been very good. We have just over 500 student athletes, who we are going to enroll in different sports, both individual and team. We have very good athletes, but we want to target them in team sports as well,” said Brayan Carrillo, Comfenalco school sports coordinator.

Through the Imdri networks, institutions will be able to find the registration link in addition to the official regulations of the competitions, so that each physical educator representing their school knows the eligible students according to the discipline in which they want to participate.

Also, the representatives of the schools met Madi, the institutional mascot, a picturesque ocelot that will accompany the competitions and tour the different stages to generate greater integration and motivate the children and young people who will be on stage.
