The official made it clear that the salary agreement is in place, with an offer of a 25% increase in two parts plus an extraordinary bonus of 60 thousand pesos.

He said that they understand “the right to strike as a constitutional right,” but that in the same way “they contemplate that “The application of discounts and payment for the day worked responds to a prerogative of the municipality” and that from “minute one we have been stating that this is an erroneous, disproportionate measure and the facts demonstrate it,” he indicated.

Monguillot said that “a few days ago we had the reports from Human Resources where we can state that 75% of the workers did not comply with the measure” and that if the discount was applied “it would impact in July.”

“It is not something confiscatory, it will be something reasonable. But we believe it is necessary, because we were sincere,” he declared.

In that sense, he said that “it is unfair for the 75% of the workers who did not comply with the measure and for the citizens who pay their municipal taxes” if the discounts are not made.

“A power that the Municipality has cannot be put up for negotiation. The negotiation is salary, we can bring together positions and percentages, but the powers of the Municipality are non-negotiable.”

Increasing

Regarding the increase, Monguillot explained that “if the increase is successful, it would take the salary floor of Category One to 500 thousand pesos, while the highest categories would reach a floor of 645 thousand pesos. We would be among the cities with the highest salaries in the country in terms of the public sector.”

For this reason, he urged “that the union reconsider and we can sign the minutes so that employees do not waste any more time.”

Announcement for hired

“The workers who are under the construction contract regime will receive an extraordinary bonus of 50 thousand pesos to be paid now on June 26,” Monguillot announced.

In addition, they will receive an increase of 25%: 15% in June to be invoiced in July and 10% in July to be invoiced in August.
