We inform the Bolivian population that a news article with the following headline is circulating in different media: ‘Chile, Spain and France dismantle shipment of cocaine from Bolivia’; toIn this regard, the Special Force to Fight Drug Trafficking clarifies that the seizure of 70 kilos of cocaine hidden in agricultural machinery, in the export modality, did not leave Bolivian customs facilities, Likewise, the exporting company is not of Bolivian origin,” the statement reads.

Together to the 70 kilos of drugs seized, the police report records the apprehension of 13 people, nine of them in Chile and four in France, for trafficking the substance in agricultural machinery that reached a port of Barcelona and from there it moved to the French town of Perpignan.

According to investigations and information released by Spain, the drug exporters are based in the Chilean city of Valparaíso. From there they wove a business network that would have front men as administrators in order to mask those truly responsible for the illicit shipments.

Investigations since February

The Chilean authorities detected in February that the exporting organization had contaminated two agricultural machines built by themselves. These are soil compactors. They left from Valparaíso to Barcelona via a merchant ship. From there, it continued its route to the final destination in Perpignan.

The international cooperation of the Police of Spain, Chile and France, established a control device in the town Claire’s French (Perpignan) around the recipient company. Agents from the three countries carried out an entry and search and captured four members of the organization. These people were in charge of dismantling the machines and collecting the narcotic, with the aim of carrying out its distribution, ABC Catalonia reported.

In this first phase, in which they intervened 70 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride, The part of the criminal organization dedicated to the importation of cocaine in large quantities was dismantled. The French judicial authorities ordered the provisional imprisonment of all of the detainees.

In a second phase, carried out weeks later in Chile, nine people were arrested and three others were charged. In this way, the operational branch of the export part of the criminal organization was dismantled. The investigators were able to find out that the criminal organization had among its plans build more agricultural machinery to continue with drug shipments from Bolivia, with the same method.
