The Departmental Institute of Health joined the public dialogue convened by the Superintendence of Health, to address the concerns and solve the problems faced by the sector, raised by the oversight offices in the region.

Platform

The day, led by the head of the national portfolio, Luis Carlos Leal, served as a platform to listen to the voices of observers, community leaders and representatives of the EPS operating in the department.

During the meeting, the director of the Departmental Health Institute of Nariño, Ana Belén Arteaga Torres, did not hesitate to explain the difficulties faced by the region, highlighting the precarious financial situation that affects the quality of the services offered.

Alarmingly, Arteaga Torres revealed that five of the six EPSs that operate in Nariño are currently under intervention, which shows a systemic crisis of worrying proportions.

Commitment

«When the financial situation of the system is not correct, the quality of the service is highly affected. Added to these shortcomings are the quality of service provision and the protection of human talent in health,” said the official.

At the end of the meeting, the Superintendent of Health, Luis Carlos Leal, expressed his commitment to the situation in Nariño and announced concrete measures to address the crisis, with the aim of ensuring that this fundamental right is not harmed.

Greater rigor was highlighted in the monitoring of the improvement plans of the intervened EPS, as well as the immediate convening of working groups to streamline contracting issues and guarantee the right to health.
