Although the judicial information system of the Administrative Court of Quindío published the decision to invalidate Agreement 302 of 2024 through which the mayor is authorized to contract a concession for the management of traffic services in the city, including photodetection, It has not been notified to the parties, so the content of the ruling, which is a sole instance, is not known.

The municipal government of Armenia, after learning the information published by the Court, has said that the decision has not been properly notified yet, which is why the factual and legal reasons that supported the single instance ruling of the Honorable are not known. Administrative Court.

“As a decision of a single instance, the Municipality of Armenia is respectful of the rulings issued by the honorable Administrative Court of Quindío, and will adopt corrective measures in relation to subsequent actions that have the same nature,” the statement says.

And he adds: “Once the decision is known in its entirety, the Municipal Administration will carry out the analysis of the factual and legal arguments and will establish the route that will be followed regarding this project of great relevance for the city of Armenia.”

The project would be resubmitted

According to what was said by the local government, taking the appropriate corrective measures, the project could be presented again, to insist on the granting of some transit services in Armenia and improve mobility in the city.

With the concession that would manage the services, according to the Agreement that was invalidated, it intends to set up a Mobility Management Center, where video cameras stop traffic violations in real time and control can be carried out on this issue in the city. The cameras would detect the following violations: expired SOAT; Techno-Mechanical expired; crossing red lights, parking in unauthorized places, and license plate control. The cameras would not be used in detecting the speed of vehicles.

It is expected that between Monday and Tuesday of next week the ruling will be known and the Government of Armenia will make the relevant decisions regarding this city mobility project.
