Logroño, (EFE).- The general secretary of the PSOE La Rioja, Concha Andreu, announced this Monday her decision not to run for re-election in the next ordinary regional congress and that she is renouncing her membership in the regional Parliament.

Andreu, who was president of the Government of La Rioja during the last legislature, made this announcement this Monday before the Regional Executive Commission of the PSOE.
The PSOE of La Rioja, in a note, has announced this decision by Andreu, who is also a senator in the current legislature, without providing more information.

Andreu (Calahorra, La Rioja, 1967), who was elected general secretary of the Rioja socialists in October 2021 and has been a regional deputy since June 2011, has sent a letter to the members of her party after announcing her decision to the party organs, once the recent electoral cycle has ended.

In his letter, he thanks the activists for the contribution, drive and trust that he has received from them during his political career from day one.

“It has been an indescribable honor to carry out the responsibilities of general secretary over the last few years at your side,” Andreu said, as well as from her inclusion in the regional candidacy in 2011 to be a regional deputy until being elected part of the Regional Executive and , later, of the Federal Executive of Pedro Sánchez.

“I also felt your support as a candidate for the Presidency of the Government (of La Rioja) and together we achieved the Government of La Rioja,” she said, to which she added the “privilege” of having been elected general secretary of the Rioja socialists and , later, senator for La Rioja.

“For me it has been a pride to be the first female president of the Autonomous Community of La Rioja and also the first woman to be general secretary of the PSOE La Rioja,” she highlighted.

“And I am fully aware that, without the entire PSOE and without you as a militant, I would not have achieved it,” so he thanks them and indicates that he will continue to be at their disposal, as he has always done.

It will also be “at the disposal of the political project of the PSOE La Rioja, which is more necessary than ever today.”
