Tota Mayor’s Office wants to reestablish the certification process of Playa Blanca as a sustainable tourist destination

The purpose of the municipal mayor’s office is to regulate tourist activity in the Playa Blanca sector, and that is why it has developed different workshops with more than 60 tourist service providers that operate within this place, with a view to organizing all the details in the event of a possible reopening, after more than three years of inactivity.

One of the administration’s greatest interests is to train providers to certify this tourist destination as sustainable. For this reason, it has generated actions to formalize the operators and ensure that they are legally constituted before the entities that regulate tourism and commerce in the department.

Laura Cardozo, government secretary of the municipality of Tota, spoke about the commitments that are being made to be ready for the reopening of the place. “At the mayor’s office we have worked to generate actions for the benefit of the tourist service providers of Playa Blanca, training them regarding the permits they must have in their businesses or in their services. We have carried out training with the Chamber of Commerce, with the Police for security issues and with environmental authorities for the management of solid waste. Also, we have implemented courses with the purpose of acquiring knowledge and promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism.”

It is worth remembering that Playa Blanca was closed for more than a thousand days due to an order from the Attorney General’s Office, due to inattention that had been occurring for more than a decade.
