Vice President Francia Márquez asked President Gustavo Petro for greater security in Valle and Cauca, after the terrorist attack that her father suffered this weekend.

In the meeting that will also be extended to the military leadership and the Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez, the vice president demanded greater security in this entire area of ​​the Pacific due to the acts of violence that have occurred in recent weeks.

“I am going to continue demanding results in my region, in my municipality, for the safety, not only of my family, but of the entire population of Valle del Cauca and the Pacific region, in general, where these acts of violence are occurring. ”, he mentioned. And he added: “This is a region that opted for a Government of change and we have the responsibility of guaranteeing security to this region and the entire country, so we have to continue insisting on that commitment to confront the situation.”

Likewise, he asked the Attorney General’s Office to investigate the attack of which his father was a victim, as well as to clarify the repetitive acts of violence that have been occurring in this region of Colombia.

After the attack that occurred last Sunday, June 16, the first information indicates that the vehicle in which Sigifredo Márquez was traveling was hit four times by gunshots. The General Command of the Military Forces stated that there are “no consequences to regret.”

Troops of the Military Forces landed in the rural area of ​​Jamundí to evacuate Márquez and a minor who was traveling with him. As well as to support the search for the people responsible for the attack and to strengthen the offensive against criminal groups that commit crimes in the area.
