OPEN LETTER TO THE GOVERNOR

OPEN LETTER TO THE GOVERNOR
OPEN LETTER TO THE GOVERNOR

I respectfully allow myself to send my contribution to those who I esteem, want and can place Chubut on the threshold of growth, towards the pedestal of sustainable development.

It is known that the reversal of major problems will not be produced by rulers with the mentality of administrators, but by statesmen who, unlike popular politicians, do not think about future elections but about future generations; as the American historian James Freeman Clarke maintained.
The preceding hypothesis becomes valid, if we evaluate that the previous President of the Nation proposed the circulation of bitrenes on Route 3, our main land route of communication with the north of the country; that the blind centralism that historically characterizes the central government is reiterated, abandoning the maintenance of National Route 40, aggravating integration in the best “stay pattern” style; procedure similar to what happened during the government of Raúl Alfonsín, with the intended transfer of the capital to Viedma.
Those of us who live “beyond Colorado” can emphatically affirm that the best way we need to have to integrate with the rest of the country, without any distinction; It is the railway, which does not know about road closures, potholes, storms, cold, heat, or social classes, I dare to point out.
I was a railway worker until 1961, when another centralist government, wrongly called developmentalist, of Arturo Frondizi, ordered the closure of the branch, ignoring that from the Puerto Madryn head of the then National Patagonian Railway, there were less than 200 kilometers left to join it to the Railway Roca and integrate it into the Metropolis, via Constitución station.
I can affirm that all the cement for the construction of the Florentino Ameghino Dam was transported by the Patagonian Railway, from Puerto Madryn and Trelew and that on the return it brought the kaolin from Piedra Grande to the Villegas camp, which was received at the port dock, to be shipped. on the overseas shipping fleet, heading to the “San Lorenzo” tile factory in Santa Fe.
In the lower valley, the railway was the ideal mixed means for human transportation as well, linking the Dolavon-Playa Unión section, passing through Gaiman, Trelew and Rawson, bringing people closer to work and vacationers with costs accessible to all.
It would be redundant to expand the accumulation of benefits that it historically grants and represents in the world; a milestone of progress to overcome underdevelopment.
Mr. Governor, you have the guts and spirit to manage; and carry out such an undertaking, because it has been assumed that the impossible is a ghost of the timid and the refuge of the cowards; and that intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings.

Americo Lloyd
