Looking ahead to the Argentine Powerlifting Championship to be held from July 4 to 7 in Capital, the Secretary of Sports of the Province, Jorge Terrile, received this Wednesday a group of athletes belonging to the Correntina Taragui Mbareté Powerlifting Association.

Horacio Gómez, Vice President of the Argentine Powerlifting Federation and Secretary of the Correntina Taragui Mbareté Association, commented that the contest in the provincial capital will be a qualifier for the South American competition to be held in Buenos Aires, from September 18 to 22.

The event in Corrientes will have the Alvear Club as its central stage, with the participation of 200 competitors from all over the country.

“About 20 Corrientes competitors in divisions ranging from 14 years of age and divided into ladies and gentlemen by body weight,” explained the leader of this sport.

The modalities of Powerlifting or Power Lifting include: squat, flat bench and takeoff. For this Argentine Championship there will be an exhaustive anti-doping control, with the visit of an observer from the International Powerlifting Federation.

It should be noted that the contest is organized by the Argentine Power Lifting Federation and the Correntina Taragui Mbareté Association.

The Corrientes group is made up of athletes from across the province, who will form a provincial team for the aforementioned event.
