Car bomb in Nariño: a police assistant and a woman died

During the night of this Friday, June 21, 2024, It was learned that the car bomb in Nariño left 2 dead and 10 injured. Among the fatalities are a police assistant and a woman.

Around 6:15 in the afternoon in Puerto Remolino, municipality of Taminango, on the Pan-American Highway, this vehicle loaded with explosives was detonated. The explosion caused damage to the Police station in that sector.

The police assistant who died was beginning his career within the institution.

The place where the vehicle exploded is used by travelers traveling along the Pasto – Popayán highway to eat and rest.

Personnel from the Nariño Police moved to the area to strengthen the presence of uniformed officers and investigate the events.

And that vehicle was left at 5 in the afternoon near the Police station and an hour and 15 minutes later it was detonated. The explosion caused damage to facades and other vehicles.

The area is cordoned off and passage along the Pan-American Highway at this time is restricted. They ask travelers to avoid traveling through that area.

There is talk that this would be an attack by the Franco Benavides front of the FARC dissidents. These criminals have made threats against that Police station. They also extort money from the inhabitants of the township.
