On June 23, 1973, Law No. 1250, Law of Organization of the Judicial System, was approved, which created the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic.

Ariadna Toledo Esteban, Provincial Prosecutor in Santiago de Cuba commented that “for the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic, the fundamental mission is precisely the control of legality in the processes and the control of the criminal investigation and the exercise of criminal and public action. The Prosecutor’s Office has different specialties to be able to offer fulfillment of this mission such as tax verifications, criminal proceedings, protection of the family from jurisdictional matters, control of legality, prison establishments and attention to citizens who is that prosecutor who exchanges daily with all citizens; In all the headquarters of the province there is a prosecutor on duty in charge of this service.”

“To offer compliance with what was constitutionally endorsed in Article 156, which is the intervention of the prosecutor’s office as the body overseeing legality, since we also have Law 160 that authorizes the intervention of all these specialties. By virtue of them, work systems have been approved throughout this time and each year they are ratified for each of the specialties that in some way will identify our relationships with internal and external bodies to perfect our work every day. This is how Ariadna Toledo Esteban, Provincial Prosecutor in Santiago de Cuba, explained.
