In operations to control and monitor wildlife trafficking, the Environment Secretariat with the support of the National Police They seized 5.5 kilograms of shark meat (Mustelus sp.) that were sold in a restaurant in Bogota.

The registration occurred thanks to a complaint from a citizen who alerted the environmental authority about the sale of this type of meat.

Resolution 0380 of 2021, which defines fishing resources and determines the species that can be exploited in the national territory, establishes that sharks and marine rays correspond to a hydrobiological resource and, therefore, cannot be extracted for commercial purposes.

The Ministry of the Environment will initiate the respective environmental sanctioning process against the people who were marketing these products as indicated in Law 1333 of 2009. Likewise, the Penal Code, in its article 328, establishes penalties of sixty (60) to one hundred thirty-five (135) months and a fine of one hundred thirty-four (134) to forty-three thousand seven hundred fifty (43,750) minimum wages. current monthly legal regulations.

The environmental authority, together with the National Police, will continue to carry out control operations to counteract illegal trafficking of wild species. (hunting, mobilization, marketing and possession) in different parts of the city, in addition to the controls carried out at the land and air terminals.
