A team of professionals from the Maternal and Child Hospital won the award for the best work in clinical research, within the framework of the forty-first National Congress of Cardiology, held in Rosario, organized by the Argentine Federation of Cardiology.

With the work titled “Adaptation to the Height of Children and Adolescents in the Highest Town of the Argentine Republic. Echocardiographic findings that call into question the genetic bases”, the doctors from Salta won the first prize, consisting of a sum of 500 thousand pesos, which will be donated to the Olacapato health post, where the research was carried out.

The professionals are part of the Pediatric Cardiology team at the Maternal and Child Hospital and have been researching the topic since 2017. The group is led by the cardiologist Alberto Robredo and made up of his peers, Hernán Vélez, Rodrigo Suárez and Juan Barrionuevo and the allergist Paula Robredo. .

On the occasion of the extramural assistance operations for the population of Olacapato, they managed to perform echocardiographic studies on 47 children in the area, through which they verified that the residents of that place have a poor adaptation to the altitude.

The clinical research work was presented at the last congress of the Argentine Federation of Cardiology, after having passed various stages in the selection and examination process by a rigorous academic tribunal. It was selected among the five best works of the 2024 edition of the National Congress of Cardiology held in the city of Rosario.
