In a joint operation between the Gaula Police and the Military Forces, they managed to capture four people who were keeping the productive sector of northern Huila under extortion.

During the raid, authorities seized notebooks, communications radios, cell phones and other elements crucial to the investigation.

The detainees, accused of extortion and conspiracy, were surprised with three notebooks containing detailed records of payments made by hundreds of victims. These documents were the physical memory of the criminal organization led by ‘alias La Patacona’. According to the preliminary investigation, this woman was in charge of writing down the names of extorted companies and people, as well as those who owed sums to the organization.

‘Alias ​​La Patacona’, a key member of the dismantled criminal structure, ordered extortion and the delivery of intimidating pamphlets to the productive sector.. Thanks to the effective action of the Public Force and the Prosecutor’s Office, a blow has been struck to the heart of extortion in the north of the department of Huila, where merchants, farmers, ranchers and other productive sectors suffered constant harassment by these criminals.

Colonel Carlos Eduardo Téllez Betancourt, commander of the Huila Police Department, detailed the impact of this operation: “Municipalities such as Neiva, Gigante, San Agustín, Garzón and Villavieja were affected by these criminals. The productive sector of Villavieja, in particular, suffered for months the agony of these extortions. Today, these criminals are behind bars.

In the seized items, an extortion payment control book was found, which reveals that the criminal organization obtained an approximate monthly profit of more than $2,000. millions of pesos. «We want to send a clear message to the merchants, ranchers, coffee growers and farmers of Huila: these captures are the result of the trust they have placed in us. The complaint has been fundamental to catch these four extortionists and others who are already in jail,” said Colonel Téllez Betancourt.
