Through decree 0763 of June 18, 2024, The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit decreed the adjustment in the price of the ACPM for large consumers.

According to the document, this increase will begin to take effect 45 days after its publication and its gradual increase will be applied until parity is achieved with international prices for this fuel (see decree).

The Minister of Finance, Ricardo Bonilla, He explained that large consumers are those who have a special logistics operation and consume more than 20 thousand gallons of diesel per month.

Large consumers represent 5% of ACPM’s total consumption and covers around 150 companies that are concentrated in the mining and oil sectors (60%), among others.

Likewise, Minister Bonilla clarified that this adjustment does not apply to retail service stations, because large consumers buy directly from the wholesale distributor.

The decree explains that the regulation corresponding to the implementation of this differential adjustment mechanism will be carried out by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, which will be in charge of setting prices.
