The Superintendency of Companies, headed by Billy Escobar, published the report of the 1,000 largest companies during 2023, a ranking led by Ecopetrol, Reficar and Avianca. The top 5 was completed by Terpel and Nueva EPS.

These companies added revenues of $1,313 billion, of which, the first 50 represented 44% of the total in this area during last year. In terms of profits, the companies reached $99 billion and the first 50 had 53% of that figure.

Again, Ecopetrol was the best performing company in terms of operating incomebut, although the hydrocarbon company added $129.5 billion, it fell compared to 2022, when it achieved $144.8 billion.

The second place went to Reficar, which had revenues of more than $32 billion last year and which allowed it to take over the Terpel Organization’s position. This implied an increase of 15% compared to 2022, when it reached $27.9 billion.

One of the surprises was Avianca, which got onto the podium of the largest companies and climbed from 16th position in 2022 to third place last year. The airline had operating income of more than $27.1 billion, with a growth of 21% compared to 2022 when it reached $22.5 billion.

The fourth place went to the Terpel Organization, which, although it fell from second place compared to 2022, added operational income of $23 billion, which meant a drop in income of 2%. The top 5 is completed by Nueva EPS, which reached more than $20.2 billion, with a growth of 37%.

EPM remains at the top, which, although it fell from third position compared to 2022achieved operating income of $17.7 billion, with an 18% increase in operating income compared to the immediately previous year, when it achieved $15.06 billion.
