In the last few hours, the Bogotá Metropolitan Police managed to capture in flagrante delicto a man who extorted in the town of Barrios Unidos. The victims alerted the authorities about the criminal actions of this person, a foreign national.

The apprehension was achieved after the uniformed CAI August 7 soldiers were alerted by one of the victims, who He requested support from the Police to confront the presence of the criminal, who requested the sum of 400 thousand pesos..

“A citizen stated that he was being extorted and that at that precise moment he would deliver the sum of 400 thousand pesos, for which he requested accompaniment from the Quadrant Police,” reported the uniformed officers of Barrios Unidos.

He asked for money in exchange for returning stolen items

They found in his possession a chain and some gold pendants.

The person who called the uniformed officers lives in August 7 and had been a victim of theft in previous days. He assured that after the robbery they called him to ask for money in exchange for returning his belongings.

This citizen managed to deliver the aforementioned sum in cash to the criminal. The police then intercepted and searched the criminal, finding cash and gold jewelry in their possession.

“Through the search procedure, they found a chain and some gold pendants in their possession; and the sum of 30 thousand pesos in cash, in addition to the 400 thousand pesos received during the extortion,” the Bogotá Police added.

Meanwhile, the accused was left at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office to answer for the facts attributed to him.
