For 72 hours, the Trade Union Front of the National Universities will begin in Salta, as in the rest of the country, sessions to present their salary demands. Activities framed in the fight plan will be carried out on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

It is worth remembering that teachers, researchers and non-teachers, on June 4 and 5, held a national strike and were waiting for new meetings with national officials to reach joint agreements.

“After this measure of force, the national government granted a unilateral salary increase of 4%. They withdrew from the negotiations and did not call us again. “We understand that the Government makes political decisions after approving the Base Law in the Senate and more than ever chooses not to dialogue,” he explained to New dairy, Diego MaitaSecretary General of the Association of Teachers and Researchers of the National University of Salta- ADIUNSA.

“We do not want to lose month to month and have income equal to or higher than inflation and we also want to make up for the salary loss we had since November. We need a 40% increase, plus the month’s inflation. With that we recover the purchasing power that we lost last year,” he added.

He also explained that: “from December 2023 to May 2024, accumulated inflation was 115.6% while the increase in our salaries was 62.11%, which gives us a loss of more than 50% in just 6 months. of government of Javier Milei”.

Regarding the actions to be carried out, Maita indicated that today there will be a flyer through pits and classrooms about the reality of the sector. A Union Assembly will be held on Wednesday at 11, with the focus on the salary situation and the fight plan. There will be no activities on Thursday due to the holiday for State Workers’ Day.

“The unions of all the universities agree on actions that generate consensus and not strike separately. In many universities they are closing the semester with midterms and that is why we are going to the visibility day without interrupting classes,” highlighted the union member.

“After the great march of April 23, a budget reinforcement was achieved for the operating expenses of the Universities, but the risk situation is not resolved only by increasing operating expenses, which represent 10% of the total budget, but rather by The recovery of the salaries of teachers and non-teachers is essential,” concluded Maita.
