The Festival and Reign of Bambuco in Huila, which attracts national and international tourists, celebrates Huila folklore with music, dances, troupes and native cuisine, fusing rural and urban traditions in honor of San Juan and San Pedro. This festivity, over time, has been standardized with typical clothing, Sanjuanero Huilense choreographies and a diversity of emblematic events.

The 63rd edition of the Bambuco Festival in San Juan and San Pedro will be from June 14 to July 1. at the Jorge Villamil Cordovez Music Park with a ‘Gala of History and Tradition’, an artistic and cultural show called ‘Symbols of Huilensidad’.

Sara Milena Rivas Flórez, a 20-year-old industrial engineering student and representative of the Gigante mayor’s office, joins the participants of the Reinado del Bambuco 2024, sharing her motivation to compete for the crown. She points out that “winning the Reinado del Bambuco not only means carrying the crown, but also become the ambassador of the rich folkloric and cultural heritage of Huila, known as “Opita.”
