CASEMI has highlighted the relevance of RIGI to generate better conditions for investors, who until now have shown little interest in bringing foreign currency to the country due to the lack of competitiveness and legal security. “Today Argentina is at a disadvantage compared to other South American countries, such as Peru or Chile, which offer better contexts for mining exploitation”, the statement explained. In this sense, the RIGI is presented as an essential tool to achieve greater stability in the continental market and attract necessary investments to face the current recession.

One of the most relevant points of the Base Law approved by the Senate, according to CASEMI, is the increase to 20% of the minimum investment margin of the operators that they must allocate to the contracting of local services. This change “It implies more and better opportunities for our companies, favors their development and allows us to envision a more sustainable future for the local economy.”

CASEMI also called to put aside discussions about the convenience of the RIGI and focus on the debate on critical issues such as the construction of a stable economic-financial structure that facilitates the landing of foreign currency. “We need the construction of a new scenario that allows the generation of employment, greater investments, the development of local companies and greater sustainability of the activity. It is the only way to achieve a sustainable economy in the long term, for the good of all our dear San Juan and Argentina”.
