At a technical table for harmonious work and coordination of actions between the Ministry of National Education, the Secretariat of Education of Cauca and the AISO authorities of the Misak, Nasa and Pijaos peoples, several situations were addressed that will improve the provision of educational services in the framework of Major Law and own education.

Popayán (Cauca), June 25, 2024. At a technical table to listen to and resolve the problems presented by the Indigenous Authorities of the Southwest (AISO), the team from the Ministry of National Education and the Secretariat of Education of Cauca, assessed the progress made by these communities and agreed on the actions to be carried out. for the strengthening of education in this region of the country.

The Indigenous Authorities of the Southwest that represent the Misak, Nasa and Pijaos peoples, settled in the department of Cauca, presented their needs regarding the topics of:

  • Progress and processes of Ala Kusrei Ya Misak University.
  • Educational infrastructure needs from the territory and own worldview.
  • Expansion of the pedagogical facilitators plant and the implementation route to achieve the replacement of the contracted enrollment in its territory.
  • Follow-up on the Implementation route of Decree 1345 of 2023 with the promoters of the Misak and Novirao people.
  • Needs for administrative personnel in each of the educational institutions of the AISO Movement.

The day, which was framed in a dialogue of knowledge and the coordination of joint actions, included the participation of the technical team of the Ministry of National Education in areas of basic and higher education, the Secretariat of Education of Cauca and representatives of the authorities of the Misak communities. These representatives have been managing and carrying out the pertinent studies within their territories to establish the paths, modes, managers and other activities that strengthen indigenous education in the department of Cauca, in accordance with the needs that they have prioritized.

In the words of Taita Jesús María Aranda, the Misak community or Territory of the great Pupen seeks that the “life processes of the people last for their generations and this happens due to the existence of the spaces always and forever. The Misak University or Ala Kusrei ya Misak University is very important. The Misak University will be articulated with the official educational system in accordance with the principles of the Indigenous Educational System (SEIP) and respects the own mandates and the dignity of the peoples, as is the Major Right.”

With the assistance of the Secretariat of Education of Cauca, the adoption of the teaching staff of indigenous facilitators will begin to make the transition from contracted education to appointed indigenous educators, in such a way that the continuity and quality of the educational and pedagogical processes is guaranteed. of the children of these communities.

In this regard, the Nunachak and AISO authorities will begin the process of filing the resumes of teachers who meet the requirements for appointment. Subsequently, in a technical meeting between the Secretariat of Education of Cauca and the Nunachak and AISO authorities, they will identify the number of teachers to be appointed for each educational site.

On each of the topics, commitments were established to move forward with the support and technical accompaniment of the Ministry of National Education and the Certified Territorial Entity of Cauca.
