Due to weather conditions, Santa Marta goes from the orange alert to the red alert

Yesterday afternoon the Office for Disaster Risk Management declared an orange alert in the city.

The winter season that hits the city maintains emergency situations on the periphery of the urban area, but also in the rural area of the District.

Yesterday, as reported by the head of the Ogricc, Álex Velásquez, the entire operational capacity of the yellow machinery was responding to the flooding of the rivers that come down from the Sierra Nevada, as well as the landslides that hindered the passage, especially in the roads that connect the paths in Minca.

Today, given the increased probability of rain and new flooding of the tributaries that flow into the Caribbean Sea, the Ogricc decreed a red alert in the city.

“Due to the current weather conditions, the Office for Risk Management has issued a red alert due to the threat of landslides. We invite the community in risk areas to exercise caution and go to safe places,” the Mayor’s Office reported through its social networks.
