A new bus route that will cover the distance between Havana and Pinar del Río will be enabled as of Monday, July 1, official transportation sources on the island reported.

According to Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, minister of the sector in the nation, it is about the sale of tickets and last-minute transportation departure for passengers traveling to Pinar del Río, by the National Bus Company, from the Almendares terminal.

The aforementioned site is near the intersection of 100th Street and Boyeros Avenue, an important transportation hub from Havana to the west of the capital.

“Currently, people interested in traveling to that province through the waiting list must remain at the Villanueva terminal and the buses travel there (near the Bay of Havana) from the National Bus terminal (in Plaza de the Revolution) in a completely opposite direction to Pinar del Río,” the minister acknowledged.

Consequently, it has been decided to move the last hour to Boyeros, a solution that “optimizes travel times, passenger transfer and fuel consumption, due to its location very close to the national highway and the central highway, roads through which “You travel to Pinar del Río,” he added.

According to Rodríguez Dávila, the signaling, lighting and patching work at the terminal entrance on Boyeros Avenue is still missing, but the work has been delayed by the rains.

Efforts are also being made to move the area where passengers stay and pick up private means of transport from the national highway under the 100th Street bridge to the Almendares terminal parking lot.

When summarizing the situation of interprovincial transportation between the two territories, Dávila recalled that there are 6 daily bus departures to the city of Pinar del Río, to which are added those from Mantua on Tuesdays and Saturdays and those from Sandino on Mondays and Fridays.

The train routes Artemisa – Havana, Batabanó – Havana and Pinar del Río – Havana pass through the Almendares terminal; Therefore, starting July 1, travelers who decide to wait in Almendares for a bus with a fault will also have the opportunity to board the train to Pinar del Río or another intermediate municipality, he pointed out.
