The Council of State denied Carlos Patiño’s demand that requested the loss of investiture of the congressmen who donated money to the Antioquia “cow” for 4G.

There are nine congressmen saved: Miguel Uribe, Paloma Valencia, Esteban Quintero, Andrés Guerra, María Fernanda Cabal, Juan Espinal, Hernán Cadavid, John Jairo Berrío and Julián Peinado.

What “cow”? It was the idea of the governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón, to get one billion pesos to be able to finish co-financing the money that was missing for the 4G roads in his department.

The mechanism only raised $6 billion from 15,000 donors and got into legal trouble due to the lawsuit by Paisa lawyer Patiño. And, as a result of this, the cow stalled and Governor Rendón returned part of the money collected so as to “not involve them in any judicial matter.”

The demand. The appeal, which asked that the congressmen lose their seats for having donated to the “cow,” argued that the parliamentarians, with their donation, entered into a donation contract with the State, which is prohibited.
