Presumed members of the Gulf Cartel (CDG) kidnapped five American tourists who were traveling aboard various vehicles, including a truck Lamborghini Urusfor the state of Tamaulipas.

The Mexican authorities managed to rescue the tourists last Thursday and over the weekend they recovered the vehicles that the victims were driving, including the van of the luxury Italian firm.

The events took place on March 1 in the city of Soto de La Marina, in Tamaulipas, where, according to reports, probable members of the Gulf Cartel established a checkpoint at one of the entrances to the city, reported BreitbartTexas.

There, five tourists traveling in a Lamborghini Urus, a Jeep Wrangler and a Jeep Cherokee, They were arrested; after the suspected CDG gunmen interrogated them at the checkpoint, kidnapped the men and took their vehicles.

The five victims were identified as Joel Rodríguez, Brian Lazala, Ramón Méndez, Bonifacio Sánchez and Carlos Núñez, all Originally from the Dominican Republic, but residing in the United States.

Tourists of Dominican origin, according to reports, and according to police sources consulted by the American media, They were heading to the state of Veracruz.

According to reports, after the kidnapping, the relative of one of the victims called the Mexican authorities from the United States. to report his brother as kidnapped.

He also explained that he had lost all communication with the group and that their mobile phones were turned off. Staff from the Tamaulipas Attorney General’s Office (FGJE) traveled to Soto La Marina to investigate the case.

On Friday morning, through the network of video surveillance cameras, the authorities detected a convoy of gunmen heading to Soto de La Marina.

The agents mobilized to arrest those responsible, which led to a shootout between both parties. Subsequently, the alleged Gulf Cartel gunmen abandoned a white Ford pickup, inside which the authorities found one of the kidnapping victims and several weapons.

Hours later, the gunmen abandoned the rest of the victims on the side of the highway that connects Soto La Marina with the Tamaulipas capital, Ciudad Victoria. The five victims were alive and received first aid.

On Saturday, June 3, FGJE investigators located one of the vehicles in which the tourists were traveling, the blue Lamborghini Urus, in the border city of Matamoros, and detained a man identified as Sergio “El Ciego” Guevara Vasquezan alleged member of the Gulf cartel who would operate under the orders of José Alberto “La Kena or Cyclone 19″ García Vilanoleader of the CDG cell in Matamoros.
