They confiscate 850 rifle cartridges on a trail at the exit from Maicao to Riohacha

During a routine patrol on Calle 5 and Carrera 14 in the municipality of Maicao, a vehicle was detected that ignored the stop sign, triggering a follow-up by the uniformed officers.

After coordinating with the communications center and other quadrants, the vehicle continued to be followed until the exit that leads from Maicao to Riohacha. At this point, National Army personnel joined the operation to collaborate in locating the vehicle and its occupants.

The vehicle was sighted at kilometer 68, where it turned onto a trail. Upon inspecting the abandoned vehicle, five plastic bottles containing a total of 850 rifle cartridges, of calibers 5.52 and 7.62 millimeters, were found inside.

The occupants of the vehicle fled towards the wooded area. The confiscated ammunition was made available to the URI Prosecutor’s Office of Maicao for the corresponding investigations.

This joint operation between the Police and the National Army reaffirms the commitment of the authorities in the fight against crime.
