On April 8, 15 of the 16 freestylers classified for the National Red Bull Batalla Colombia 2024 were announced, one of the most important rap battle competitions in the world, which will be held on July 6. However, almost a month before the event, confirmation from a participant was needed to complete the list.
That last quota was defined this Sunday, June 2, in the Salitre storytellers’ plaza in Bogotá, a place where The final Red Bull home run took place, facing the four rappers classified from the Plazas de la Costa, Medellín, Bogotá and the Asimetrico Freestyle university league, respectively. The winner of the home run would keep the spot.

Despite being an event held in Bogotá, in the audience were rappers and spectators from different parts of the country who came to participate in the event. Young people from Medellín, Barrancabermeja, Cartagena, Ibagué and Cali, among other regions, attended the event seeking to keep the quota.

It was around 8:30 pm when the Salitre story park, with just over 200 spectators, received the four classified freestylers in the center of the square. Sitting on the grass, with a serious expression and without saying a word, were the three judges in charge of voting on the home run battles: Hellmunth, Tinta Tintero and Sebastián Arias.
Without further ado, the presenter of the meetings, María José Arcila, known as Arci, began the event. Each participant had to face the others in direct duels. The two who won two battles qualified for the final, and the other two were left out. The first finalist of the home run was Puppy, after winning against Ken Zingle and Neg. The second runner-up was Ken Zingle, who beat Neg and Wilvid.
In the grand final, Puppy and Ken Zingle faced each other again, this time in a much more even duel than the first, which led the judges to vote reply (tie). In the tiebreaker round, Puppy beat his rival and the group of young people from Cali who had arrived in the city, flooded the stage to celebrate with the competitor their qualification for the Red Bull Batalla Colombia 2024.

Since 2021, Puppy began to win important competitions in Cali such as ‘Perro come perro’, which led him to compete in his first Red Bull Battle National in 2022. In 2023, he promoted and became part of the FMS Colombia, the most important professional freestyle league in the country and re-qualified to Red Bull. This becomes the third consecutive time that the Cali native participates in this contest.
“This year I am going with the enjoyment of the first year I qualified, the hunger of the second and the experience I have acquired from the third, I hope something fun comes out,” Puppy expressed in a chat with EL TIEMPO.
VallesT, Marithea, Filósofo, RBN, Airon, Coloso, Lit Ignis, Clezart, Django, Hank, JM Serna, Mega, Pandora, Ruffaz and Visionario complete the list of 16 freestylers who will star in this competition. Whoever becomes champion will represent Colombia in the Red Bull Batalla Internacional, which will be held on November 30 in Madrid, Spain.
