Córdoba: This Friday the annual blood collection takes place at the Emergency Hospital – ENREDACCIÓN – Córdoba

Within the framework of World Blood Donor Day, the Municipality of Córdoba, together with the Ministry of Health, the Directorate of Medical Specialties and the Municipal Blood Bank, invited people to join the Solidarity Blood Donation Campaign. The activity will take place this Friday the 14th at the Municipal Emergency Hospital, from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The information indicates that regular and voluntary donors can be people between 18 and 65 years of age, who weigh more than 50 kg and are in good health.

Those who wish to do so can go to the Municipal Blood Bank (Salta 480) by presenting ID, ID or passport to carry out the procedure.

In addition, donors must be rested for at least 5-6 hours and must not present symptoms of general malaise, fever, cold or cough.

It is important to have had a regular breakfast prior to the extraction, without incorporating dairy products or fats, and to drink plenty of liquid beforehand (except alcoholic beverages).

Through this campaign, an attempt will be made to cover the demand for blood from municipal hospitals to guarantee its availability when it is needed and to contribute, if necessary, to the demand of the population.

The official statement explains that “it is very important to highlight that blood cannot be manufactured or purchased, and that the only source of supply is the donation of volunteers. so it is important to know that by donating you can save up to four lives.”

On the other hand, donating blood does not affect the health of the donor, and the procedure to do so is very safe since disposable material is used for extraction.

It details the information that the extracted blood is fractionated according to the different components, including red blood cells, platelets, plasma and derivatives.

Each of these elements can be transfused to the patient according to their requirement: red blood cells for treatments of chronic and acute anemias. Platelets in chemotherapy, spinal aplasia and transplants, and plasma and derivatives for treatments of hemophilia, coagulation problems, burns and kidney and liver diseases.

ALL YEAR

The Municipal Blood Bank is open all year round from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for those volunteers who wish to come and donate.
